This privacy policy describes how the YouTube Oldest Comment Chrome/Edge extension handles your data.

What data we access

When you sign in with Google, the extension requests an OAuth 2.0 access token with the youtube.force-ssl scope. This token is used solely to call the YouTube Data API v3 to read public comment threads on YouTube videos you choose to sort.

What data we store

Your OAuth access token and its expiry time, stored locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local.
Your Google account name, email address, and profile picture URL, stored locally in your browser so the extension can display your account in the popup.
A temporary cache of fetched comments for recently viewed videos, stored locally in your browser for up to 30 minutes to avoid redundant API calls.
A count of daily YouTube API quota units used, stored locally in your browser.

What data we do not collect

None of the above data is ever transmitted to any server operated by the developer. No analytics, tracking, or telemetry of any kind is collected. The extension communicates only with Google’s APIs (googleapis.com) on your behalf.

Third-party services

The extension uses the YouTube Data API v3, subject to Google’s Privacy Policy.

Revoking access

You can sign out at any time using the Sign out button in the extension popup. You can also revoke access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
